On Tuesday the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant around 9 a.m. in the 400 block of Briarwood Drive in Ukiah for an illegal indoor-marijuana grow. The Sheriff's Office had received numerous neighborhood complaints regarding the smell of marijuana coming from the residence.
Upon arrival, deputies located an fully operational indoor-marijuana grow in the garage of the residence. A search of the residence also located processed drying marijuana in one of the young children's bedroom. It became apparent through information obtained and evidence located at the residence that this marijuana grow was associated with a marijuana grow in the 1500 block of Elm Street in Ukiah.
At this point deputies and officers from the Ukiah Police Department went to the residence along the 1500 block of Elm Street. At the location they discovered the strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence. While securing the residence deputies on scene located Avelina Fuentes, 44, and Maria Llama-Fuentes, 44, inside the residence processing marijuana. Two other females and their young children were also located inside the residence.
The residence was secured and agents from the Mendocino County Major Crimes Task Force prepared a search warrant for the Elm Street residence.
A total of 52 marijuana plants and approximately three pounds of processed marijuana were removed from the residence on Briarwood Drive. At the Elm Street house, a total of 119 marijuana plants and approximately one pound of processed marijuana were found along with a rifle.
Both Fuentes and Llama-Fuentes were placed under arrest for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony. Roberto Fuentes, 50, is outstanding and wanted in regard to this investigation.
Both Avelina and Maria were transported to the Mendocino County Jail and held on 75,000 dollars bail each.
